The Memory Mat game consist of a grid mat that is 1m x 1m, with 16 very light cushion squares made of a plain color from the top and prints of either numbers, geometric shapes, or animals…etc inside. Each 16 square is attached to the grid of the mat using Velcro.
The kid use his/her motor skills to get down pick the covered object, turn it over see what it is and try to spot the same one in another place in the mat. This fun process aims to develop the kid memory as well as his/her motor skills.
It's part of my senior thesis project, 'Play: A New way of learning', which is aiming to develop interactive games that teaches and develop young kids in an indirect way, through playing.
